My Guy Tested Positive for Lymes

We use Credelio tablets once a month and ticks have not bitten our dogs at all. It's the only thing that has worked so far. We live in the northeast, ticks are rampant in our area. We have Minnie vaccinated against lyme, she got it anyways. I'd rather use something that works than have my dogs get lyme, the topicals just don't work that well and getting lyme repeatedly can cause lots of damage.

I’m so glad we got him the vaccine. This may have been a different post if we hadn’t. The ticks here have been so bad - we didn’t even take him on any hikes this summer because the winters have been so warm that it’s really not killing many ticks at all lately.

I’m hoping they come out with a vaccine for people soon. I got swarmed by a nest of deer ticks a few years ago when I was out fishing. Nasty little things

I had no idea! That’s so scary; my vet never said anything. One even suggested the Seresto collar. What do you use?

I use Nexguard for four of mine, and for my two old girls Frontline. Nexguard is the safest, my vet says, and has worked really well for us here in Tick Central, Connecticut. I don't like giving the seniors an oral med though, so they get Frontline instead. It doesn't work as well as Nexguard, but we also have the dog yard sprayed four times each year by Tick Ranger (a national franchise) with a natural cedar oil spray. I haven't found a tick on any of them in two years.
