okay I'll probably become the member who posts the most! The breeder emailed me to tell me the pup she was going to keep is a larger pup, and I wouldn't want to call her Minnie, so she's swapping her for a smaller pup so The name will fit!! Lol! When I told the breeder I wanted to name her Minnie yesterday, she said that's fine, and I got the feeling she didn't like the name! So I'll have a small Minnie! So I get everything I want! A girl to name Minnie, and a mini girl!!

and yes, dreams do come true!
Congrats on all fronts!

The breeder says she names them only because it gets so confusing, who's who! She's getting me a picture!
My obedience trainer breeds Shepherds and she calls them by the color of their collar (blue boy, yellow girl etc). Maybe less attachment this way? I'd be too attached after naming to let them go lol.

I guarantee you they'll be the longest 7 weeks of your life! I had to wait 10 weeks for Piper and I honestly don't know how I got through it!
Yes, also the longest because of work- after our April vacation we count the days and we are all so tired!!! But I intend to use this time to really enforce Sandstorm's basic training and socialization. His sit stays and freeze stays with distractions are near perfect, we'll work on his recall and walking near people. We're going to take him on a walking adventure in Provincetown here on Cape Cod, where lots of people walk on the narrow streets. I'm kind of sad in a way, if this makes sense- it's been Sandstorm and I for 9 years during the summer, just the two of us. It's not going to be that way anymore. I still plan on our one on one walks to the beach this summer, but it won't be the same- it will involve Minnie, which is WONDERFUL, but I'm feeling sentimental.

I can totally relate to that Karen, I was feeling sad too about getting Finnie because my bond with Piper is so strong...I didn't want him to feel that I didn't love him any less. Silly I know...but he was put off by it.
I now know what it means to love more than one dog. With Piper it's strong...he's the love of my life. Finnie...he's still in that adolescent stage, irritating and disobedient but I love him it's just not the same.
Definitely more challenging keeping everyone happy when you have multiple dogs lol. Piper always gets the better cookie, more pats, and ALWAYS the front seat lol.

Ain't that the truth! For some reason bringing in Fil's dad just wasn't a big deal...I was always suspecting Fil remembered him. They were only apart a few months. But this scenario with Benson? Waay different. Maybe bringing in a puppy would be better/easier!

I don't walk often with both dogs. I walk shorter lengths but half with each. If I do walk both, it's a really short walk.

I do car rides; one, then the other, sometimes both, sometimes neither. Never wanted Brodie to rely on Kooper for confidence like Kooper used to rely on our Buddy for confidence. So you will still get your time with Sandstorm, then get time with Minnie as well! You'll make it work!

That's the best way to do it Sandy! I made the mistake of taking Piper and Finnie together and it wasn't until a few months ago when I took Finnie out alone what it was doing to him! He turned into a scardey cat! Not so much afraid of people but definitely lacking the confidence being alone.
It's taken me 3 months at least to get him to the point that he'll let people approach him.
It's ok to take them out together occasionally but if your socializing then definitely take the puppy alone.
