My sheltie totally ignored me and ran across the street!!! She has never done this before

Yes, Why do some people think it is okay to hurt our dogs :confused2:

Just because they remain faithful??

Lisa - really well you could write about this awful attempt, I could not

I'd heard about Pavlov years ago when I'd taken a psychology class in university but I most certainly wasn't told about THIS! Disgusting!

Talking about behavior modification though, I just started doing Crate Games with Finnie (I'd stopped it when he hurt himself) and I'm attempting to modify his behaviour (more impulse control) by using a crate and treats. No pain, no shocks, no corrections...he makes all the decisions. If I were to shock him every time he made the wrong choice sure he'd learn but I'd lose his trust, I'd break him and this is something I'd never want to see happen to any dog.

 These few lines are so amazing and shows exactly what all learning is about :hugs

My first home I had, I didn't have the money to put up a large fence to keep my Harley safe......Sooo I went to the local factories and took their damaged wooden pallets FREE of charge. I then bought a cheap used sander, got the pallets, cut, sanded, joined them then painted them. Over the space of a week I built my own fence at practically no expense (a cheap sander, nails, paint and some fuel for the car to collect pallets). Yes it took me a lot of personel time but theres always a way to avoid inflicting any kind of discomfort on your pet.
I get so touched when I read this :wink2:
It was really caring for a lovable little soul
you took in your custody
