Names for agility dogs

No names picked out here. I like names that represent something fast. And before I pick out a name I like to look around and make sure no one else has the same name. When I picked out Trax I saw that someone already had "Nothing but Trax" as a registered name so I went with Makin' Trax. With Maverick, a friend helped me name him and I used "Jordan's Top Gun" as his registered name for the movie reference and the fact that my daughter who runs him is named Jordan :wink2:

I've thought of tons of cool names, but I especially like Zephyr, Pheonix, and Fern.

I've heard Revolution (Tori Self's dog) and Adrenalyn, but those names are already taken.

Speaking of BCs, yes, many working dogs have shot names. My friend's parents used to breed BCs and Labs before she was born and they had names like, Meg, Dot, Spirit, Angus, Butch, etc. One or two syllable.

Oh yes, I like "Rev" but know a couple of them :)

That was on the top of my puppy list but stay with Birch. If I had gone with his brother Hickory, I definitely would have renamed him Rev. He made growling sounds when he was playing like a reving motorcycle.

WIth Birch's registered name Revolution was the other choice.

One of my friends has a lab named Torque which I love.

My mothers new BC is Fiona.

You can see her here: [http://clantyrephotography.smugmug....ding-July/17881556_23gngX#1633942696_kjpFLBz] refusing to lie down, because obviously, there are SHEEP OVER THERE!

Working BC people tend to have short names, which as a trial secretary, I love. Joe, Shep, and Bill are good ones. When you look at Fiona's pedigree, the whole top side is single word names (her sire is an ISDS import).

love that pic:yes:

well, Cranberry is my only three syllable dog so far- but he answers well to Cran:winkgrin:

Love it, so well thought out!!

Wouldn't you know it there is an agility Toffee who wins a lot of trials here, a gorgeous sheltie girl, she's sable and also a tad tall... Erin her handler is amazing and I think she such a smooth handler and the Queen of rear crosses! Did I mention she is like 16??? grrrr lol
She got top junior handler with Toffee at the nationals too...

Her Toffee ended the year with 70 Q's, a Lifetime Achievement Award and a National Championship... UHM DARN had I know her then, my Mr Toffee wouldn't have been called Toffee, LOLL Those are big shoes to fill!!!

When I compete next year I will register him at trials as MISTER Toffee as to not confuse the people there who are expecting runs like these... instead of my little beginner stuff with Mister Mister... lol

I think Toffee is a common enough name that you'll be fine. My boss has a mixed breed named Toffee.
