Natural Flea Control...

Does it make anyone else think that we are doing to flea prevention what we have done to anti-biotics? Overusing them. They will have to get stronger and stronger and more and more chemically creative, with who knows what kind of impact to the dogs health.

yes, I agree. My first dog that was only mine after I moved south got fleas pretty regularly. we lived in FL and they never died off. I gave him the yeast/garlic tabs and flea combed him every couple days. never put anything on him. then we moved to AL and fleas weren't as bad there. might need to go back to the old ways.

Knock on wood but I have not seen a flea in a year and that was one flea and I use my Critter powder as I really don't like to use chemicals.

Since it is the season for ticks and such critters, there has been a lot of talk on a sheltie-natural's forum I am on about this very topic in the last few days. Many people have recommeded brewer's yeast with garlic (they put this in the dog's meals), as well as Rose Geranium, and Neem Shampoo and spray.
They've recommended this web site:
http://www.naturespet.com They carry many natural flea and tick products, including the Neem. I am going to be purchasing some today. They also have brewer's yeast with garlic bits for the dogs.
I hate ticks and black flies and mosquitos and since I do not use any chemicals on my dogs at all, I am willling to try anything natural to help protect them.
