Need help with chasing cars!

Well, this is off-track a little, but I have to say that every time I see the title to this post "Need Help Chasing Cars", I see Ania chasing a car and all the rest of us running right behind her (helping her chase cars). I always giggle a little bit. Thanks, and good luck with chasing cars!!

Mine does it too. He chases cars (louder and bigger the better), motocycles, bicycles, skateboards, and even people running. My biggest is the other dogs. When he sees other dogs, he goes crazy. I don't think he is being aggressive. It is more like he wants to be close to other dogs. But him barking, crying and pulling makes other owners feel uncomfortable for us to come near. The only time he completely ignored passing dogs was when I had a Korean BBQ rib bones. He was so into licking it and trying to get it out of my hand, he didn't even bother to look at the dog who was passing right next to him. With other treats, he ignores them and lunges at the other dogs. I can't carry Korean BBQ rib bones all the time (I may attract entire neighborhood dogs). So far I haven't found any other food that made him stop focusing on other dogs.

I posted about this on another board and came away feeling like we *both* needed psychotherapy! At least here I understand everyone! Oh yea, he also can't sit at the window anymore.....indoor barking... and the front yard fence is a picket-type one so he just waits and watches for the next drama....

Lets ALL go out there and run around chasin' the cars...there are TOO MANY cars for Ania to run after them alone

Must be a herding dog thing. Bentley does the same for bikes, motorcycles, other dogs, and sometimes people (depends on his mood). He goes crazy! Barks, lunges, growls...but it's not aggressive. Or at least his intention isn't to hurt the other thing. Very weird. I think he wants to herd/play with everything he sees. He's gotten off leash a couple times and just runs around the thing and barks.

It's very frustrating because people think he is aggressive/I can't control my dog. I just ordered the Control Unleashed book and will be trying those techniques soon.

We've already tried several methods. We tried a can of pennies to get his interest, we tried giving him treats, we tried putting him in a sit stay, and as a last resort we even tried the pinch collar (under direction of an obedience instructor) to no avail. I'm hoping Control Unleashed is the answer.

Chasing Cars

I actually use Cesar Milan's method when Shadow goes in to what I call Kujo mode. I tap him in the butt with my foot to get his attention to get him out of the red zone and it works like a charm for me.It re focuses his attention to me.
