Never Brush A Dry Dog?!

I am converting a nice wood changing table for a grooming table. It's in great shape, lots of storage.I cannot possibly afford a grooming table, even those on Ebay..the shipping is what gets ya.There must be oodles of them listed for .99 cents. But they are charging outrageous amounts to ship them.

The changing table was my girl friends, she gave it to us to take to the flea market two weeks ago.I told Brian it was'nt going,I was going to use it,and I got a strange look from him(huh..is she pregnant kinda look) lol

Now that's a great idea! Certainly, about the right height! I wonder if you could rig up an "arm" to hold the dog up. Whenever I groom my boys, they always want to lie down and sprawl. Sometimes I need them standing.

I, too, love the idea!! I'm not sure if my DH would faint or just give me a look as well, were I to mention wanting one. And the space... Hmm...

Oh yes, I can see it now....Honey! I think we need a baby changing table....for the dogs, really! No, no, no! I'm really not thinking about human babies....really!:rolleyes2::wink2:

Actually I have that figured out to..the arm. I am taking the arm that I use for my power carver (for gourd's when I carve)it will attach to the table,as it has a strong screw thingie on it,and it a long metal pole.At the top of the pole my cord would rest on it,and also the moter for my power carver.I'm thinking it will work just fine. But Brian said if it does'nt work,he had another idea. I'm thinking it has something to do with some "slight" modification to the wall in the spare room where I plan to put the table.

Even so,we hardly ever have company, and the table would'nt be in the way even if someone were to stay. And I could easily take the pole off the table.

Not sure what I need for a non slip surface on the matress,or even if I am going to leave the matress on the table surface. What do ya'll think?

Now you really got me thinking - take the mattress off and replace it with either a stainless steel liner or something that can easily be laundered covered with a garbage bag to protect the wood....

On top of that, at marine stores, you can buy rubber sheeting that can be cut into any shape or size you want. It's perforated (1/4" holes) so water flows through. I've got it on my boat as place mats. I bought sheets of these and custom cut them. The purpose so that dishes don't slide around if the boats a-rocking.

I think that would work perfect

My problem would be locating a marine place or even a boat launch period..not in this town any how.But I'm gonna do me a search on Ebay, and see what I come up with. I like the stainless thought though, and that can be easily bought local.

As for making it non slip, there must be gad zillions of things I could use. I could for that matter even put a padded tub mat, that will absorb moisture, its washable,it's non slip.

Really not alot needs ot be done to this table,as it really is in quite nice shape, and to think she wanted me to sell it at a flea market for a couple bucks! It's a perfect height, and I like it cause it has 2 long storage shelves below. It sure will be a help,as I cannot possibly be bending over to groom him. I'm getting so excited.

I think we're on to something here.....! And yes, a tub mat could work fine.....you would just have to hang it after each use, else it would got moldy after each use.

ok- when you 2 figure everything out- table brand and model, restraining device, etc- make sure to post the details and pix for the rest of us :wink2::winkgrin:

Will do!
We'll be looking today at Lowes for alternatives for the liner. I may look into back splash stainless squares,as they are adhesive, and actually quite reasonable.

Now that you mentioned it, I've been thinking about buying Smudge a grooming table that has one of those little arms to make him hold still. I was going to wait until Christmas, but who wants to place bets as to if I actually wait that long or not?

Meh. My tiny little room has too much furniture in it.
