New MJP

You guys look great!

Pyper runs like Ember. She always seems worried that she might do something wrong. Super careful thru the weaves....gives me a little rest while she finishes weaving...:smile2:

Congrates sounds like an awesome weekend, funny how different surfaces will speed them up or slow them down pretty dramatically.
She so much runs like Cosmo ;)

Great job with Ember! I really enjoyed her videos and thought she looked really enthusiastic and confident going round (and still very ladylike!) Loved the encoragement she was getting from the person filming the videos too! :wink2:

Birch is coming on very nicely and has super weaves and very confident. I'm sure you are very pleased with his progress to date.

I find it interesting your jumps are much more varied than ours, which are all single bars with wings apart from walls, long jump and tyre. I imagine that could present more of a challenge as the dog has to learn to ignore those differences and tackle everything the same. Hard to describe but when watching videos your courses seem busier (as in more for the eye to take in and the mind to absorb). Are some types of jumps easier for dogs than others? I know horses jump better where there are wings on the jumps - is it the same for dogs?

Thank you. That was Rachel, Birch's breeder, cheering Ember on. She knows Ember needs extra help :smile2:

Those courses were trappy, some are more or less so especially in excellent/Masters.

I have ran at some trials and the jumps are different colors, different decorations, different wings and some all white with stripes. I have not really noticed my dogs noticing. I suspect because they have always seen different jumps since the beginning.

I think wings add challenges to some handling ie in getting to the spots vs non wing jumps. In addition, non wing jumps are harder to see I think sometimes. Some people add different words for the doubles and triples , but I don't I can never remember when running and my dogs seem to adjust themselves on their own anyway so I never say anything. They know jump a bar if it is there. At least that is the theory. :wink2:

Yes I guess if they're used to variety during training it won't bother them. Interesting about the non-winged jumps as I find that Epic performs better over the 'proper' jumps at shows and training even though they are higher than my plastic 2 poles and a bar garden jumps - although wings mean I'm further away. I agree having additional commands for different types of jumps is too much to remember!
