New Receipe For Training Called Tuna Fudge

thank you for posting, will try tomorrow...
I am turning more and more to my own cooking for pup as well.... never could stand commercial processed food anyway... bet my family will love salmon patties as well...

Recipie

I made a batch yesterday and eoze it but kept some out ofr the boys and oh yeah they are liking it.

I noticed that one of the ingredients is garlic. Garlic and onions are poisonous to dogs so if i were you i would leave the garlic OUT!

Treats

I use garlic all the time and never had a problem. I am not putting a ton in . I talked with other Sheltie brreders and was told some people use it for fleas.

I would talk to your vet about garlic. Garlic and onions can cause hemolytic anemia. According to a post in another thread the effect can be cumulative. Perhaps the fleas don't like anemic blood, when I started on blood thinners the mosquitoes left me alone.:smile2:

Treats

My oldest is 8 years and is as healthy as a horse and like I said I am not using a ton of it plus I very rarely make treats. I am to lazy and buy most of them.

Hey there~

The little bit of garlic (powder) which is what my recipe calls for,I'm sure will not be a problem whatsoever. It is such a small amount, and givin the amount of dough this recipe makes,I would'nt think it would be a problem.

My recipe came off from SheltieHair Blog site, which our very own Michele Chan hosts. Please forgive me,but I'm sure she hosts the site.

I've been making this Fishy Fudge now since Trapp came home. What I do differantly though,is put it thru a cake icing bag,to make small dollops of the treat. So much smaller, and for me easiar.

My guys love this stuff.

good to know that you guys are having good luck with it. I was just worried when I saw that the effect from garlic could be cumulative. I might try some without the garlic and see how the dogs like it.

good tip about the cake decorating bag, it would definitely make for portion control and easy to work with.

I know I am very careful here when I am working with fresh garlic,as I wou'dnt want these pups to get ahold of a little piece that may fall to the floor accidentally. The same with onions.

Usually I gate the guys off from the kitchen, just so I'm sure no gobblers are waiting for falling objects.
I don't know how much garlic it would take for any kind of reaction, but I don't chance it with fresh garlic.
