New Receipe For Training Called Tuna Fudge

Just wanted to say thanks for the recipe:biggrin2: Domino is going crazy for his treats now and can't wait to go for his walk as he knows this is when we train and he will be getting lots of little tuna treats!

I will definately be making these again....and they were so quick to do!

I just made a batch the other day for a cake customer of mine. Her dog loves the fishy fudge,I use salmon.

These puppers here love them as well.I saved about a dozen or so from the large batch I did,for them.I keep them in the freezer,so they are always on hand here.

I may have to break down and try to make some of this though I'll need to substitute a brown rice flour and some xanthum gum for the wheat flour because of Edan's allergies.

I'm trying to find a treat that will motivate CJ during her behavior classes. So far, neither cheese nor Zuke's Mini Naturals work. This sounds a bit healthier than hot dogs.

I don't think that's atypical. Bentley doesn't get excited about the Zuke's treats. I think he prefers moister, meatier treats. We boil plain chicken and he really likes that. Plus you can cut it into tiny pieces and freeze it and it lasts a long time.

made a big butch with salmon. Dogs loved it.
I use garlic in all my cooking and believe it is very healthy for the dog to use it in small amounts due to its antifungal, antibacterial, anticancer and immunoprotective properties. Research show that feeding dog with 3 heads/ not cloves but heads/ of garlic a day for several weeks does cause changes in blood but one has to be crazy to feed this amount of garlic to anyone. There is no research that shows small amount of garlic being harmful, there is plenty of research done on beneficial properties of garlic. Onion and and gardlic do belong in same family but amount of harmful substance in onions is about 1000x more than in garlic. Regarding cumulative effect again, one has to feed very large doses for long time to cause blood changes.

I have made fishy fudge here for the puppers for some time now.I use salmon. My recipe does'nt call for grated cheese tho.
I got my recipe of from sheltie hair blog site. I did try insread of putting it in a small 9x9,I ran mine thru a pastry tube, and did little bites of them. They love it here, and the treat does really well in the freezer, just pull a few and put in your pouch, ready to go.

When you do the little bites do you still bake at 350 and for how long. I am making them tomorrow. Bought all ingredients today.:biggrin2:

I do bake at 350..but I watch them closely. As I do not want them crunchy.I kinda test them after 4-5 minutes.Remember..any thing like this will continue to bake even out of the oven on a hot cookie sheet. I bake them till they are just starting to turn lightly golden around the edge of the treat.

I like these small little bites,as I often will break them even smaller when feeding as training treats. They fit good in my training pouch.

I want treats for training so they should be on chewy soft side and not too crumbly. Making them too thin will get them crunchy and keeping them about 0.25-0.5" makes them softer. I bake all of mine using wax paper as a whole sheet and cut while warm in larger squares, then later cut in smaller bite ones and freeze. I grease cookie sheet slightly then apply wax paper then grease lightly again and spread dough with my hands. I keep my hands wet to prevent sticking.
If you bake individual size you will get a lot of edges which will make them crunchier.
Since almost all ingredients are already precooked you can do your cooking at lower temp for slightly longer time. 35 min at 300 will give you same result as 20 min at 350.

Just made a batch. Did some bite size and a pan of it. gypsy was my tester and LOVED IT. :biggrin2: Chandler turned his nose up:no: I was hoping but he has barely been eating anything these days.

I made some of these today. Wondering if any one has to worry about tummy trouble like with the liver treats?

I made the liver ones two days ago and used very little of it when we trained and we got the runs bad over here.. and stinky poo..

I also made the yams however, and wonder could that cause runs? i have been buying the store bought yams for long long time and never had tummy issues..

Any enlightenment? Appreciate it for Bella n Dondger's tummy tums
