new to the group

My 6 month old puppy will fall asleep laying on me. But, she tends to move in the middle of the night. Of course, she's only slept all night in the bed twice. We normally get up and put her in her crate. Also, I move around a lot so her sleeping on me all night isn't really feasible.

Welcome to the group, as well. You will really enjoy having a Sheltie - they are such intuitive dogs - I swear they can read your mind. One of my dogs liked to sleep behind my knees. The next one wanted to sleep on the floor. Now, Emma is a different matter - she sleeps as tight to me as she can get and loves to get tight to my back or up on the pillow. The breeder tells me Emma's niece sleeps on her pilow. Emma will lay across me when she wants me to get up or else she will totally stand on me, which is very difficult if I am laying on my side.

is it also normal for them to get so jealous? bubs hates it when lulu gets anywhere near me and they get into these blood curdling sounding fights for a bit then 20 minutes later i find sound asleep together on the couch. one thing that bubs and lu loves is my parents farm. they have 50 acres and once a week we take both dogs up there and they just run all they want, without fences or worry about other dogs. in my trailer court there are 2 pits across the way and i worry about my dogs around them so i fenced off part of my yard for my 2 to have room to potty and play. just not alot of running room.

there is a pic i have of both my girls. lulu is on the left and bubbles is on the right.

i will try to get more photos taken of them over the summer.

Welcome to the board and what a cute name Bubbles. Our Maggie sleeps between us and has a routine. She starts out next to my husband then lays next to me either behind my knees or over my feet, then she moves to the middle. Zak still is in his crate.

OMG Diva does this too! She just climbs up and balances there.

Make that another pup that stands on you~Trapp will stand on me in the mornings,it does'nt matter how I'm sleeping,he will get right in my face if I don't make a move sooner.first he starts with little puppy kisses,my nose,arm..where ever.If I don't wake up I get his full weight.

MOM..WAKIE UPPIE!!! NOW!:eek2:

I've also had Emma lying on my side, just like a cat in the window. When I tell her to get off, she is looking for the other Emma I'm talking too! Didn't know I had two of them - I'm still trying to find the "Not Me".

Welcome to the Forums!
Look at those ears, he looks like another Smudge twin! heheheeh

Shelties are very in tune with owners.. It sounds like it would be a great breed to be your service dog.
Yeah, mine is pretty darn jealous, god forbid I pet the cat, or kiss a person! LOL He is not allowed to fight tho... but he has the way of shouldering in, hahaha

Only thing I can recommend is a dog park or something, if not then a good romp and a walk even on leash should get the dog tired, also training focuses their minds and keeps them busy, even if they didn't get a huge run that day :biggrin2:

Welcome, Dee and Bubbles! It's going to be fun hearing about the journey you two will share as Bubbles learns how to be your service dog.
