no more sasquatch!!!

mcguiregirl...I always wanted to do Telly last. I always thought that the tricolored sheltie has rougher less soft fur because of all the black fur. I never thought they would have a soft silky fur like my other shelties. Telly is the first tricolored pupper like him I have ever had. It is amazing how soft and silky his fur is now, and I swear he knows he looks wonderful because now I no longer need to chase Telly to get him to come to me. I call and tell to him what a gorgeous pupper he is, and he comes right over now

Everytime I think I know something about shelties, I learn how wrong I really am

Thanks guys for all your help. I was stressing over Telly and all that dang fur. I have been gushing all weekend over Telly now lol
 
I've always heard (and it's been my experience) that tri's and blue's always have the softer coats, and that it's usually the sables that have the rougher coats.

After this marathon grooming session I see how true that is. Poor Telly came to me with a really brittle and dry coat. I had just assumed all shelties like him were that way. I see how very wrong I am now. His coat is so soft and shiny now it does make the sables coats seem rougher to the touch

I would die without my grooming table. And I only have 1 Sheltie!!
They just make life so much easier, and easier on the back too. I also use mine to groom my mom's border collie.
I picked mine up on Craigslist for about $60, gently used. The gal also threw in pet clippers and a few other grooming gadgets. Pretty good deal in my opinion. Personally, I feel like it has paid for itself multiple times over as has my forced air dryer. What I paid for those big ticket items is about the same as 2-3 trips to the professional groomers. And after reading some of the horror stories from other Sheltie folks (ie 'The groomer shaved my dog!' Eeeek!), I don't trust groomers as far as I could throw em.
 
I've posted this on another thread, but you can also get a great deal on grooming tables at PetEdge.com . Their prices are wholesale geared toward retailers but individuals can buy from them and delivery is usually the next day. Everything is discounted, treats, crates, supplies etc. They have new grooming tables for $59.

Be sure when you order a grooming table that you don't get the small travel table or the smallest size. I did that at first and it was too small and I had to send it back.
 
I was looking last night and see some on ebay that are rather inexpensive too. A groomer friend on another board suggested putting a rubber bath mat type thing that suctions to the surface and using my washer or dryer.

I just wanted to add...Telly is on the main page of Sheltie Nation today. He is sleeping on the end table lol
