Nosework fun!

I decided to try training Betty in nosework while we wait for the next Rally class to start. Unfortunately, the nearest nosework clubs, classes, and trials are 7+ hours away... so we are "home schooling" with the help of the online Fenzi Dog Sports Academy!

I can't tell you how much fun this is! It was very easy to gather all the necessary materials, and Betty thinks it's the best game going.

If you are lucky enough to live in a place where you can easily join a class or go to a trial (ie. anywhere but eastern Nebraska), do give it a try. Any dog can do it, and you don't need a lot of space to train - and it's so much fun.

Birch and I just started Nosework class. It fact we just got back from week 2 class. Birch thinks it is the best game in the world. He can barely wait his turn:smile2: The learning curve is easy and the dogs are all catching on and having a blast.
 
Love that!! Betty looks like she is having a great time and what a super winter inside game/training to do. I will have to try that with mine this winter when it is too icy to safely do much outside and they are getting cabin fever!

Shelby loves nose work class. We go every Sunday morning for an hour. I just do it for fun but a lot of people in our class are starting to do it competitively.

Today we searched the horse barn and I thought for sure Shelby would be more interested in the horse and cat smells. But she did good. Found 3 hides in about 3 minutes.
 
So gad Betty enjoyed it1

We attended a nose work seminar in the summer and Bailey loved it. She was also pretty good at it, one of the best dogs in the class. Great to play and practice indoors when it's really cold or hot outside.
 
Cubby LOVED nosework. We have NO ORT's or trials within about 5 hours so forget competing. We aren't driving 5 hours to sniff something and leave. So, I started training Cubby to blood sugar. Wouldn't you know, the little fellow is a great glucose meter! How convenient is that! Fun with scent, let me tell you.
