Oh, Goodness; What Have I Done?

OK, sorry for the LONG delay on the update. We actually didn't get OUT of that trail until nearly 6 PM. The Rally Excellent class was supposed to start at roughly 2 PM ET and that started late because the Obedience classes ran long.

After we got home I had to feed the dogs then take DH out for his birthday dinner. (My must love me since he spend the entire afternoon of his birthday at a Rally trail with me.) This is the first chance I had to actually provide an update.

Now, for the show.

I was incredibly nervous. As I stood at the gate waiting to be invited in, I was getting more and more nervous and my stomach was REALLY starting to knot up. I'm certain it impacted some of Edan's performance but I went out and did the best I could do.

We did VERY well. We scored a 93 out of 100 and took 1st place and 1st prize in our class (a nice little candle set).

First, happy birthday hubby!
Second, don't you LOVE that you get "prizes" when you win? Besides ribbons? And don't you LOVE that they have a ceremony? LOL.

I'll have to watch the video in a bit, but wanted to say a big congrats on the 93 and 1st place. Awesome job!!! Just watched the video. You guys did great!!! Edan did a nice heel.

Do you think you'll be as nervous your second time? Or do you think you understand it better now and feel that you're doing fine?

Just wondering....does he not have a sit or down command? Or is it hard to do because unlike agility, he's at your side? I noticed that was your biggest problem area, but everything else looked great. No wonder you got a 93. Great job Sheri.

Thanks everyone. It was definitely a different experience from agility. I know part of the nerves came from not understanding the "flow" of the event. Next time I'll have an idea of what to expect so that will help.

It was kind of nice and it filled in the time while they changed the courses very nicely actually.

The prize thing sort of surprised me. I'm use to getting a biscuit or toy for the dog when I Q in agility but something nice for me was a surprise.

We need to work more on his sit and down from a heel; its the area we need the most improvement in. I'm entering another match in mid-October so hopefully in a months time we'll see some improvement.

The mid-October match is actually a 2 day match but I'm only going to do 1 day. One reason is money; I have a number of upcoming agility trials I'd rather have that money toward. The other is our local Sheltie Specialty show is in February and I'd like to try to get the RN at the Specialty because it IS the Sheltie show; I'm curious how he'd do against other Shelties (even though I'm in only in Nov A).
