I am so very sorry to hear this; one of the hardest parts of pet companionship is knowing when the pain they're in is more than the desire you have to be with them and doing what needs to be done to alleviate their pain, even though it causes your heart to hurt.

Margi, my eyes are overflowing as I write. I loved meeting all your boys but there was something really special about Koko. Such a sweet and dignified senior boy. We all dread the moment of knowing when it's time to say goodbye, but he lived his life with you knowing absolutely how much he was loved. He's up at the Bridge now, romping free of any pain or discomfort. Sending you much love and sympathy. :hugs

I'm so sorry. There are never any great words at these times. We are so blessed to have these amazing dogs in our lives. Sadly with that blessing comes the great pain when they leave us. Peace and God Bless.

Dear St. Francis, thank you for giving Koko such a warm welcome as he crossed over the Bridge. Help him to find his way in his newfound strength and eternal youth. Please send comfort to his family -- they miss him so. In His name we ask,
    Amen

Oh Margi, I too am shedding tears reading your beautiful tribute to dear Koko. What a wonderful image you captured with the young boy. Young and old together, yet shared the sweetest bond. How hard it is to have to give the last gift of kindness. My heart is just breaking for you. Loving thoughts and prayers being sent your way... RIP sweet Koko, you will be missed. Virtual hugs, G & the Boys

Thank you, Chris, for your always thoughtful prayers to St Francis. Just beautiful!

It is hard to verbalize how devastating I know this is. I think about the near future when I will loose my seemingly healthy senior boy almost every day. I know Gavin is staying happy for me because he knows how much I love him. I just hope that when it is time, he lets me know.
