Our Sketchie boy, cancer/amputation

Great to hear the E-collar has gone. It sounds like Sketch has made excellent progress, a large part of which must be due to your loving care.

What a lovely post from Page too.

Great news about losing the cone. I'm sure Sketch is mightily relieved about that. He seems to be getting along pretty well with his rehab. I'm sure it's because of your attentive and compassionate care, Trini. You two have been in my thoughts!

Cindy, Sketch is doing super well. He seldom pays attention to the incision site now and today I started him back on very short lead/road walks to strengthen his remaining rear leg. Thanks for asking.

My thoughts are with you as you face the difficult decision on what will be the best choice for your Gavin. In a way we were lucky...with the fracture of Sketch's cancer ridden femur we only had 2 choices...either let Sketchie go right then or do amputation...so our decision was far less complicated than the one you are now trying to figure out.

I am looking forward to when we can go on walks :) Right now, he is still healing (vet says it looks great, though). I have been told it will be about a month before we can start radiation, so I am guessing about 2 weeks before we can go on walks.

Videos or pictures of Sketch playing would be awesome to show everyone how great he is doing (hint hint )

Cindy, I just posted a short (and blurry) video of Sketchie under a new thread "Sketch video...". :smile2:

I am so glad it looks like Gavin's leg is healing well...he will be such a happy boy once he can go on walks again. Change or limit in routine is always hard for them to understand. Hugs to your little lad.
