Rather than send her completely away, could you not give her a place or room to herself where she can have breaks from the pup?
Sparrow is a bit full on with Cadbury and some days he just wants to be left alone. I have a stair gate across the kitchen doorway and he goes in there sometimes, or other times Sparrow goes in her crate so he can have a break. She has now hit 7 months and is a bit full of herself at the moment.
I wouldn't want to send one of my guys away as I would worry they would feel they had done something wrong or were being pushed out. Merlin would loathe it and I am not sure Cadbury would appreciate it much either.
But then mine have never had to spend time away from me, not even in kennels.
I doubt it would change the dynamics, as such (unless it was for a very long period), but I think they would find it hard.
