pancreatitis? vomiting.

Prayers were sent up for Honey's restored health.

ps Please continue to update us on how she is doing, when you can. Thanks.

thank you :o haven't heard anything, so I always assume that's a good thing when dealing with things like this.

I would think the pyometra would show up on xray and exam/ bloodwork...doesn't seem like pyo symptoms to me but I'm sure your vets are giving her the best care they can and will give you more info later today.Prayers for a speedy recovery.

I'm not a vet and don't have that much experience with dog's health, but wanted to share a story we had happen a few months ago.

Callie wasn't quite a year old, and we'd been putting an old towel down in the bottom of her crate to give her something soft to lay on. She came in from outside, and proceeded to throw up everything in her stomach -- including some weeds she'd ingested and a small piece of the towel from her crate. It was only a small piece, maybe 1/2" wide by 2" long, but something had obviously upset her stomach.

She threw up about another 6 - 7 times in the next 3 hours, and we ended up taking her to the ER vet that night. They couldn't feel any sort of blockage and said if she'd ingested any more cloth it couldn't show up on an x-ray anyway, so we elected to give her a shot of something to stop the vomiting and they gave her some IV fluids as she was dehyrated.

Brought her in the house an hour or so later and she immediately started eating and drinking. According to our own vet who called the next morning as a follow-up, she'd probably just really upset her stomach and couldn't get it calmed down. To this day -- probably 8 months later -- she's never thrown up again.

Hope your case turns out to be nothing more serious, but it sure is scary to have them throwing up like that.

just got home with her. She did not throw up in the past 24 hours and everything is normal. they think her stomach might of just been upset. she's going to be on a chicken and rice diet for 48 hrs since she is refusing dog food. other than that, she has gone to the bathroom a bunch of times (due to fluids) and everything looks good. Hopefully things keep going up!

she did good today, no vomit. just slept, ate rice and chicken, and drank water. peeing lots! (im assuming still due to the fluids). I did ask my friend/breeder/vet (yeah, that's impressive.. not her breeder- but my pup's) about what she thinks of us spaying her at 9. Sounds like it is a good idea, so she'll be getting spayed in June if everything pans out ok til then. She did a bowel movement, but it wasn't pretty. It was soft-ish and then some of it was diarrhea orange. yes... orange. Sent my parents a picture (mom got a hoot out of me sending her poo) and they think it might of been whatever she got into. So watching her more closely, unfortunately, I can't take another day off to watch her, but I come home during my lunch already to let pup out. Hope she does okay tomorrow :o

I am getting my Danny Boy an ultrasound soon for Mucocele in the gall bladder. Eva Saks who has a sheltie rescue CA found out about this often undetected condition which seems to occur in shelties. The symptoms can be the same as pancreaitis. If the sludge is found in the gallbladder it can be treated with medicine. The ultrasound could be a lifesaver.

It was soft-ish and then some of it was diarrhea orange. yes... orange.

This is exactly what ran through my house last month. Though my dog didn't hit the vets office until the orange liquid poo. But vomiting, diarrhea, etc. Three of five dogs got it, two to the orange poo stage.

Couple of days of Flaggyl and chicken and rice fixed them right up. We never did figure it out, assumed it was a stomach bug or something.

she's on chicken and rice now. I'm glad to hear someone else had this too...hope it's just a stomach bug :ick I'm okay with it being just a $600 stomach bug, just don't want it to be more. It's just weird though because she never gets into anything, nor do we have anything for her to get into that's why I didn't think it was that. The only reason we took her to the e-vet was because of the bloody vomit. but, they believe that's from her trying to vomit all day and not being able to.

So we're slowly switching her back to her regular dog food with it just being chicken and her dog food... but she has yet to go poo since the orange stuff... it's been since 4/21... I don't know if this is because of her diet or because of her orange mess? Any ideas? Or how to get her bowls moving?
