Persistent Skin Rash

Skin Flaking - Hypothyroidism

For those that have gone through their Shelties with hypothyroidism, is excessive skin flaking and hair loss typical at the start of treatment? The skin flaking we're seeing has us somewhat concerned as it looks almost fish scale like. While her hair seems to be coming out fairly easily, I will say whatever is replacing it feels much softer than what she originally had. Thanks!
 
itchy skin and rash

Harper Lee has been itching for months, we upped her thyroid and then again, to keep her up there,she was way low.

The itching is abating but not as quickly as I would like. While perusing on the web and contacting sheltie friends I decided to go ahead and get rid of dryer sheets that I used for laundry and also switched to, All free and clear detergent without fragrance and surfactants

She is doing better and the vinegar is getting rid of her yeasty smell. I am hoping that in a few short weeks that her thyroid meds will make her issues with itching a dim memory.
