PetSmart Black Friday Ad

I just think Black Friday is crazy! It's like Boxing Day sales up here in Canada.

All the crazies come ou, with "store rage"! Year's ago I went to a scratch and dent sale at Sears. People were lined up to get in and as soon as the doors opened, they ran to their favourite department. Some people brought the entire family so that they could lay their hands on any piece of electronic before someone else snatched it up.

The store employees were lined up at the main aisle laughing their heads off at us fools!

The only other time I did a boxing day sale was two years. I went out to get some milk and came back with a Sheepskin coat. Most expensive litre of milk I've ever bought in the life!

But alas...it is not to be. For I will be either stuffed behind a register or cowering, trying to dodge the hateful people who got thirty minutes of sleep the night before to purchase a tv/camera/dvd player for not so reduced prices.

Every year I get stuck behind a register. This year I was told I was going to be guarding tvs, but I always end up behind a register. I'll be so glad when it's over! Our back room is so jam packed nobody can move back there! :mad:

It ain't Christmas until old ladies beat the triggerfish out of each other over a Tickle Me Elmo. That's what my sister always says. :lol:

LOL I love that. Yep I am fortunate in that I can just pay more rather than fight the mobs (yep a non-herd sheep). I used to do without rather than fight the crowds. Though I confess I did go to the mall one year with no intention of buying just to watch the chaos :eek2:
 
The weird thing about black friday is the sales are not always that great.

I used to work for an electronic store and the big sales would be on the worst camera, the worst TV and the worst laptop. You really aren't saving much, but yet people would start lining up at midnight.

The media has created a mindset that stores on black friday have the best sales, but this is not true.

Yeah, my DH's son used to work at a Big Box electronics store...he claims it was all scam! No real deals, but once they have you in the store, look out!

Me, I'd be tucked up in my bunny slippers, and getting ready for Thanksgiving Day leftovers!
 
I've worked at Wal-Mart for five years. Every year I've had to work Black Friday. We used to call it Blitz, but we're no longer allowed to call it that. Now it's "The Big Event". :rolleyes2:

I've seen it all - people beating the triggerfish :biggrin2: out of each other for Elmo dolls, tvs, ect. My sister once almost got done in by some woman who thought she was after her Cabbage Patch Doll. :uhoh: "THIS is the last brown haired one, and WE are going to have it because WE were standing here first." Or something like that. I forgot exactly what they said. :lol: My sister was not after a doll at all! She worked there!


Then my friend (the one who had the daughter with the yorkie who also used to work with me) told me a story about a while back when Furby toys were new. They got a shipment in, and people were screaming, "GIVE ME A FURBRY!" They were getting angry. She said she was so scared that her and the other people working that spot actually started throwing Furby toys at people to get them to back off. They were yelling, "I want a black one!" She told me she didn't even look at the colors. She just started throwing!

Black Friday is either fun or scary. There is no inbetween.

I agree about the sales. They used to have good sales a long time ago, but not anymore. If I didn't have to work I promise I'd be at home watching tv and drinking a Coke!
