Oh goodness that does look the same. How was his mobility? Did it seem to slow him down any?

That looks like it's coming from the shoulders, could she have medial shoulder (MSI) or glenoid instability, maybe even luxation? May from the elbows but less likely if it hasn't always been like that. MSI was discussed on SF some years ago. Tully has some MSI - diagnosed years ago before she had a hip replacement (long story). An ortho vet or animal physiotherapist would probably give you a diagnosis.

That sounds more promising than it just being arthritis, the little bit of reading I did made it sound like rehabilitative therapy can help. I scheduled an appointment with the closest our area has to an orthopedic specialist for next Monday. There's an actual specialist a few hours out that I can try after if it's needed. But this vet does orthopedic surgery and rehabilitation, and he's who we first took Honey to before we moved, I really liked him a lot.

I really wish I could get my husband to make a hydrotherapy treadmill. :/ It'd always come in handy if we have pets.

So Honey had her appointment today. However before the appointment on Saturday we discovered a cut on the edge of one of her pads, and while we explored that, we saw wedged, way down between the two pads..a ... wart like bump... So we had something concrete for the vet to look at, he didn't venture an opinion on arthritis and wants to see to what degree this lump of dead skin is effecting honey before looking into anything else. He cut it down so it would bother her less, and gave us anti inflammatory medicine, which is the least invasive of the treatments he discussed. We'll see how it responds.

Here is a link to what it looks like. I trim Honey's feet frequently these days, in an attempt to make walking easier for her, and we specifically had our normal vet look at her pads in January, so this had to have swelled up relatively quickly for me to not have seen it while poking around. I feel so bad for her...

interesting- glad that you got a pic. doesn't quite look like Dixie's paw bump- I thought it was a tick when I first saw it. was some kind of blood blister type thing- got cut off and stitched up.

Oh! Poor Dixie! That looks so painful.

I've been wondering, I read the other post, and it does look a little like the pictures I found for greyhounds. The vet never specifically gave it a name, just said, "when we've seen this on other dogs" I wonder if he didn't phrase it like that though to keep me from reading home remedies on the internet and putting all kinds of weird things on her feet. Nail polish just cannot be good in that area. She does seem to be walking better. We went out today, (oh glorious sunshine) and she only needed carried for a few houses worth of it, and we even went around the longer block. She was trotting along in some places too. I really hope it falls out on it's own with the anti inflammatories.

interestingly, she never limped or showed any sign of it being an issue for her. I found it while grooming- trimming her paw fur/nails.
and even with the surgery/stitches, she never limped or showed any sign of it bothering her.
Based on many stories here, I bought some baby socks to keep it dry/clean and used vet wrap to keep it on her foot. that didn't bother her either- until I accidentally put the sock on the wrong foot- then she started limping and favoring the good foot with the sock on it. when I put it back on the correct foot- she walked fine like nothing was wrong................:confused2:
    pretty crazy............
