Piper at 11 months

He does have an awesome coat but I find it difficult to brush it ( it almost seems like it's 'knotty' in the undercoat (hope that makes sense), hard to get the brush through it (pulls a lot) and I have a greyhound pin brush and I mist his coat with water and a conditioner plus I brush him at least 2/ week and one really good one (line brush every time). But if our nice weather holds I will go for a drive to the breeder and see what she thinks, she thinks I may need a longer pin brush.

Thanks for that info Fireweed, I think I may have to take a drive out to that Best West location...they seem to have more stock than the one I go to. The pin brush I have the pins are about an inch long so looks like similar length of the one you showed but I think I'll take it with me when I go to Best West. I'm beginning to think it's just the texture of his fur, seems quite coarse.

We think we have a litter mate to Piper. Her name is Steller'S Mpca Java. Sound familiar?
Well it's hard to believe my boy is almost a year old! What a difference a year makes, a year ago I had to make the heart wrenching decision to have my 14 1/2 year old Cocker Daisy put down. The only thing that kept me sane was finding a breeder who had a female who was due a week after I'd put Daisy down and Piper was born on Easter Sunday last year, that was a good day!
His coat has become sooo thick, a far cry from the coyote he looked like at 4 months and I haven't had to tip his ears in over a month (he's happy about that, he was so good at getting the tape out lol).
He's definitely nothing like Daisy, she went from being a puppy to an adult by 8 months, he's much more mature but still acts like a puppy but with more of an attention span now. He's been incredibly easy to housetrain, he had a few accidents over the past few months but they've been few and far between. His obedience is going great, we're half way through his level 2 obedience and his heeling is excellent (sits when I stop and keeps pace with me whether I go fast or slow and never takes his eyes off me) and his stays are really good (3 minutes +). We'll be returning to our trainer we went to last year (she's in the country and I don't do winter highway driving) but she is excellent, (she has Border Collies that she competes with) and we're going to do competition obedience and Rally. I can't wait, she has a great set up...a large fenced property and a very large training hall. Pipers going to love it (he really does enjoy going to obedience and he's going to love Rally I think.
I also became a premium member today, every one is great on this site and so helpful I decided to support it and join.
Here's a pic of Piper at 11 months

My pup is Piper's brother from the same litter. Your dog's name doesn't look familiar. Is the kennel name Steller? Do you know her parents registered names?

The breeder was in Headly, BC. I think the name was Satellier and his name is Joe Brandt. I agree Piper is beautiful, his litter mates must be too.
