Pomeranian Has Moved In

Sophie he's already been to obedience class. My nephews wife flunked
Oh dear!

I was going to say they can be smart little dogs, but if they have a temper too that can make them stubborn and feisty!

Mind you, me and Cadbury have flunked every obedience test we have done. We can't even get passed the bronze kennel club award which many dogs complete before they are a year old!

I was gonna say, our little blond Pom Rockey is a perfect little Gentelman, Most of the time, but he can have his moments, if anything he's a bit overprotective, and yes in his mind he's 30 inches tall and 75 lbs. He used to but my last boder Collie jake right back into the corner cowering, like get that crazy little dog away from me please.

Oh but Cadbury is so entertaining. What would we at the forum do without all his silliness. He's such a fun guy.

Actually he's doing very well with Baxter and Fergus. There has been no problem at all.

The problem I've had is with the grooming. He's perfectly fine with the brush and comb but as soon as he sees the scissors out come the teeth. They have never been good about keeping up his coat and only took him to the groomer when he was extremely bad and had a bum caked with poo so I know most of his experiences have been very bad. I can't say as I blame the little guy for being a bit freaked by scissors. I'm trying to work some of the mats out of him before his grooming appointment on Wed. So far it's not been easy.

While I do like poms very much, I can honestly say I have never encountered one which did not have a huge attitude! The statement 'big dog in little dog's body' was written for them - but no large dog would normaly be allowed to get away with what these guys do!

Fergusmom

I am now the proud and reluctant owner of a Pomeranian.
He's already peed on the corner of my sofa so he's spent most of the evening tied to me. I just let him in from outside and he snarled at me when I tried to tie him back up so now he's in time out in the kennel.
So far so good there. Wish me luck I think I'm going to need it.
Meet Toby the devil dog.

i have to admit i just chuckled. i had a friend who had 2 of these guys and they were a handful. they did love them though. you seem to be doing fine. hope you enjoy the new member of the family.

Good luck with the grooming, I can understand that one, especially if his past experiences havn't been exactally plesant. Rock will let us brush, or take the clippers or sissors to him till the cows come home, but man bring out the toenail clippers or the pedipaw and world war 3 is on, definately a 2 person job. where as Cosmo just stands there and say's, like please make me pretty, brush me trim me, cut my nails oh that is so nice YES.

Lol, he is, you can do anything to him. Children have run up and grabbed him and he doesn't bat an eye! He usually fails the obedience test because he decides to break his stay or recall to say hello to the judges:rolleyes2:

 Well my posts would be a lot shorter if he was saner! Oh, bless him, I wouldn't be without him. When I'm feeling down he just smiles at me, nudges my hand, wags his tail and all is right in the world again:wink2:

Well Irene I hope I do learn to love the little stinker because I have a feeling he might be here for the duration which for a Pom means the next 6-8 years or more. :eek2:
