Please don't beat yourself up--as was once said on another dog board (and I think Café Press has a t-shirt with the saying)--"sith happens" (doesn't take long for it to happen either.)
So glad your furbabies are doing better and I know the cost of emergency vets is sky high (Blaze spent two days in an oxygen cage" at the emergency vet) but I think it's totally worth it.

Gave them the peroxide, called the vet, cried buckets etc. Our vet said just to watch them for a while. I was going to skip the service completely but some dear friends offered to take the dogs to the church and be with them right outside the door to watch them, and come immediately to get me if anything happened. Luckily they were OK but it was a miserable time and I totally was distracted when I should have been "present" to honor my FIL.
