Protectiveness?

After Gabby death and before getting Alfie I watched a lot of Cesar Milan shows to get a doggie fix and I have to agree that it looks like your dog is possessive of you rather then protective.

Protective? My dogs?

No way!

Only reason they get excited when someone comes to the door is because its someone new to harrass with jumps and licks!

This is how Sadie and Milo are. Even though Milo goes insane, he loves people and just wants attention from the new person once he/she is inside and deemed not an intrudor. Although she's not nearly as bad and her barking is controllable, Milo had taught Sadie how to bounce off the door too. Something I'm going to have to somehow work on with her

Smoke has a problem being possessive of me, but he only takes this out on other dogs, never on people. I have seen some improvement by removing myself from the situation as soon as he so much as grumbles at Apollo. I say "Bye bye, Smoke" because he understands that that phrase means I am leaving. Then I get up and leave whatever room we are in and ignore Smoke for at least 10 minutes, even if he follows me.

I'm not sure how well that would work for Ruckus, since it sounds like he is escalating to biting a lot faster than Smoke was. Definitely sounds like a second opinion from another behaviorist might be in order.
