Smoke has a problem being possessive of me, but he only takes this out on other dogs, never on people. I have seen some improvement by removing myself from the situation as soon as he so much as grumbles at Apollo. I say "Bye bye, Smoke" because he understands that that phrase means I am leaving. Then I get up and leave whatever room we are in and ignore Smoke for at least 10 minutes, even if he follows me.
I'm not sure how well that would work for Ruckus, since it sounds like he is escalating to biting a lot faster than Smoke was. Definitely sounds like a second opinion from another behaviorist might be in order.
