Great idea for the pee catcher...my last female was a Cocker Spaniel and she got a UTI literally as soon as the meds stopped (she was on steroids which in my opinion were the cause). I used a disposable tinfoil pie plate that I bent but then had to run behind her waiting for her to squat! No doc here and certainly no expert, but looking back I think it was the first sign of anything wrong. I have NO clue when he got bit. But his first visit to the doc was too early to test positive for Lyme's - he was negative - Lyme's take 4 - 6 weeks I think to show up on a panel. He has always held his urine for insane numbers of hours, but when sick, it was really noticeable. Then he got noticeably down, then the limp appeared. He tested negative, we rested him, but he was still 'off'. When he finally started limping again, go to bed seemingly fine but won't come out of the kennel cuz there's a full blown limp, he was going HOURS without going. I sent video of him to Ann - it was sooo very sad to see our boy like that. He didn't pop a temp until the day after or the day of him testing positive on the Multiplex test. I personally think that his whole body must have been achy, icky, and maybe he just didn't want to move around as much. I try to get him to pee more often now. Sometimes it takes forever, he really has his own mindset about going pee. He can go all night, get him outside and he'd rather play fetch than pee right away. He is not a marker, so doesn't busy himself that way on walks, he does lift his leg (took about 2 years) but he does a squat, then the leg comes up slowly o he doesn't lift on anything. Life would be a tad easier if he had just a tad of interest in marking....
Happy to hear you are seeing such great results right away. You might be able to lower your medication for her once you clear up the Lyme's.
The chicken treat feeder I use for urine collection is here. Hubby's friend who gave it to us would die if he knew what I actually use it for! Amazon has it at a ridiculous price of 18.96, our local Agway had them marked at 9.99 but on sale for 1.00. They are AWESOME pee catcher's - lol!!!
