OMG, I quake at the very thought of 7th graders on a daily basis. You must be made of steel! Certainly the best training I can think of for raising puppies, ! I'd say there's probably not a single book that would be better than your own experience!

Most breeders have the dam xrayed the week before the due date to get a count of how many puppies to expect. Maybe yours does too. And yes, you can have litters of all boys or all girls. I know several!

Thanks, I certainly am used to consistency and how that works- working in my field also helped me raise my special needs son, who was difficult- so I guess I'm so used to it that it's second nature. Although we are thrilled our son doesn't live with us anymore! Lol! Yippee! It's been a great 9 years without him! He just calls us five times a day or more. Well I hope the litter is all girls then!!! What if it's all boys??? I can't not get a puppy from her just because they're all boys, I'd just have to think of a boy puppy name.

I did read somewhere a while back, no idea if true, that puppies in a larger litter are healthier in the long run than say a litter of 2. Not sure if that was solid or not. Brodie was 1 of 6 but one puppy did not thrive and she lost that one. Only 1 female survived, but we wanted a boy anyway.

I think Gavin was 1 of 6, 2 boys (1 was the runt, and then there was my baby!) and 4 girls.

I had the girl name all picked out (and believe me it took forever to choose) when I had to go with a boy! Went for a long walk and came up with Piper in less than an hour!
Just goes to show you can't worry about the little things...everything works out in the end. I can't imagine my life without Piper...wouldn't be the same if I'd gotten a girl.

Cran and Dix were from a litter of 7, can't remember how many in Jocu's litter and Destin was from a litter of 5.

Mickey!! The Moms name is Topaz, the Dad is Keeper. Hmmm. Let's make a name out of those three words, lol!
