I like Asher the best, although I have never picked a pups name prior to owning them. I always watch the pup for a few days when I get them and somehow a name just comes to me that suits their personality.

I'd have to agree with Asher and waiting to know the pup - except that I named Cranberry way before I got him:wink2::yes:

I dunno, I'm having a hard time deciding without actually seeing the puppy. Can you post a photo?

I actually got pictures of the puppies. I found out that it isn't going to be a blue merle (if I get that pup which I'm hoping for!) but rather a bi blue. She's going to send me some more pictures over the weekend too so I'll add those when I can. At this point, they are 5 days old :biggrin2:

Puppy pictures - how sweet. What are you thinking now for a name? Have a couple of options available until you can look the puppy in the eye - that will decide for you.

I figured I'd vote first and then read this thread, to avoid any bias; voted for Piper because it sounded like a cute name. But now that I've read it I think in this case some bias would've been a good thing, and if I could do magic I'd change my vote to Asher. (Waving magic wand, poof... hmm, still nothing.) :o

The babies in the picture are adorable! I've said it before and will say it again, nothing in this world is cuter than a Sheltie puppy!

I can tell how excited you are about adding a Sheltie to your family... you came to the right place when you found this forum! But I don't envy the wait you have ahead, I waited a whole month between picking Jake from his litter mates and bringing him home. I was literally counting down the hours the day he arrived!

I have to agree with you guys. They are so cute and it's making me crazy! I'm also SO glad I found this site. My suitemate says I'm obsessed but you guys understand.

After seeing pictures of the bi blue, I'm still leaning towards Asher, Peyton, and maybe Merlin.

What do you guys think? Is the chance that she would want to show the bi blue extremely high? What age would she be able to tell that the dog's physicality is show material? I just don't want to be set on the one I can't have.

I can tell you with confidence that a show breeder will not know this early in the game, lol.

My breeder doesn't do the picking for the owners based on the homes the dogs will go to until the 6th-7th week. That was hard with Dandie because we didn't find out that we were definitely getting a pup until the 7th week and then bam, a little more than a week later we had a puppy (and that included getting her flown to us ).

My mom is an Irish Setter Breeder and she also makes her decisions between the 6th-7th week. She waits for confirmation evaluations, temperment testing, and most importantly her own observations on the puppies behavior before she picks which puppy goes to which home.

Yeah I thought so haha. Just wishful thinking I suppose. Well, at least 6 more weeks isn't much to wait. Not compared to what I've been through

Your roomie is probably right, no one said you weren't obsessed... just that we're all ok with that here.
