Quick questions about an exchange between a breeder and myself.

I have to be 100% comfortable with a breeder before I buy a puppy. I had a similar conversation with a lady who breeds cockers. It was just the way she was phrasing stuff that made me uncomfortable. I left it a while, then thought maybe I was reading the email wrong and read it again. I still had that uneasy feeling, so I knew it wasn't right for me. I've settled on a breeder now who I like and who I've chatted to on the phone with as well as by email.

Sometimes you just have to go with your gut.

I know a couple who have two dogs, same parents. Um, one is almost 13" the other is a whopping 22". The parents are on the smaller end of the standard. From what I know, I thought the size was all a guessing game. Well, educated guess, but still a guess.

IMHO, I'd probably do more research and even then, I'd most likely walk away. Using the term "cute sized", right there, tells me she's trying to SELL them as "mini". I'm not saying her line is bad, but I'd be concerned of what she's trying to accomplish.

Sigh. Just me personally, I'd probably walk away. But I'm sure you know a lot more about her, so you need to make the call if she was just being silly, or if she's selling them as "mini" without calling them that.

Honestly, it doesn't sound bad to me. It's hard to know someone's intentions unless it's over the phone or in person. Email descriptions should be taken with a grain of salt. Have you asked for a vet reference or other buyer references from similar parents/lines? I actually love the larger, solid shelties...
