Rally and Obedience brag

I am in awe and amazement watching you together! I know how much work goes into your training! The patience it demands and the focus are extraordinary! You are certainly made for each other! What a bond, what a dog, what a team!!! Your breeder must be over the moon about your progress!

I am showing all these videos to Baron!!!

Go Piper!!!

Thank you so much Gloria! I truly have been blessed with a total obedience dog (although doing this was oddly not my intent in the beginning) as Piper absolutely loves doing it! I also did find that after we were done the heeling my nervousness disappeared. I think if I can lose the nerves we'd do even better...handler errors in heeling lol, I need to work on these. Our score in this trial were good but not great (192 1/2). Unfortunately Piper hurt his left shoulder (he'd hurt his right paw a couple week before but that was all healed) going over a jump in Rally in the trial before this one and then the long drive home his muscle stiffened up on him. Vet visit on Tuesday where she prescribed Metacam and another visit yesterday where she prescribed muscle relaxants and crating (I wasn't seeing any improvement after 5 days). Our vet is almost certain it's soft tissue injury and she did feel some improvement since Tuesday so that's a good sign. He's out of commission for some time now...vet said we have to go slow even when he seems to be all better so hopefully in a week I can start back on it slowly but no jumps or walks for a while. Gives me a chance to catch up on getting things ready for winter lol.

Poor Piper! I hope he mends soon and he can enjoy training again without pain!

Your score was outstanding!

I completely get it about nerves! When I got my CD title on my first Sheltie Kelsey, I lost first place both days! Why, handler error!

Two different judges each day... funny part was, both of them said the same thing... we would have given you first place as your dog was perfect. However, you made handling errors. One was I kept looking down at her to make sure she was in heel position and the other day I put my hands together in front at the long recall which is considered an extra command.

Go figure... so, I totally get your frustration with yourself! We have all been there!

All in all, it was a fabulous turnout! Even if Piper had to wear his oversized slippers for training!

We go back to the vet tomorrow....not much improvement. I was keeping him crated but I think the crate is too big and was allowing him a bit too much movement. Past two days I've been using an x pen and he has just room for his bed and water and it seems to help. We may have to do an X-ray tomorrow to see if there's anything she missed the last visit. Fingers crossed that it's just a pulled muscle:fl

Fingers crossed indeed! Fingers, arms, legs, paws... whatever it takes to get Piper back into a competition!
Well good news I suppose in that the X-ray didn't show any damage so the vet is pretty sure it's tendinitis/bursitis. We go back in tomorrow morning for a steroid injection (they sedate him, give the needle in the joint *ouch...and then home). That and muscle relaxants hopefully will do the trick.
