Rally Question

I really really really want to do treibball. They never have enough enrollment which is odd because we have tons of herders around here.

At this point, though, I practically have a whole class myself with the three dogs!

Once again, admitting my ignorance here. The town I live in is about 50K population. Canine competitions are few & far between. There are plenty of agility ops, rally & obedience are offered twice/year...if I want more I have to travel 1 1/2 hours. Have never heard of flyball in the area, have no idea what treibball even is...

Wow - so much to learn

I had to look it up too... it looks kind of like pool meets soccer... for a dog!

I think I really am getting convinced now I definitely need to fence in my yard. I think I could teach him the basics of it, enough that he would just have fun but not really be competitive.

I work with someone who does herding competition with his border collies but he's the only one I know that does any competing with his dogs. I've found a dog club an hour away that does agility, obedience, and rally classes but this thread was the first I ever heard of treibball. I asked our trainer if she's ever heard of it- haven't heard back yet.

The dog club near me (3 miles from my house) has people and their pups who participate in coursing, rally, agility, and obedience but I'm not sure that they hold their own classes and I doubt they have treibball classes even if they do.

It's not ignorance. Treibball is actually fairly new. It's only been in the US for about 3 years. So we don't completely hi-jack this rally thread, there's some information about treibball in the "Other Sports" section.

Besides, the way dog performance sports are popping up and taking off it's getting difficult to track them all.

As the OP, I don't mind it getting hijacked from strictly rally. Watson is the first dog I have owned in my adult life and I love hearing about all the possibilities that are out there!
