Rally run thru

I hope everyone has a great weekend and to those who are trialing, remember to have fun, breath deeply and trust your dog.

I, too, would love to see a demo of the new rally signs.

You're all so dedicated! Colonel Underpants and I are taking the summer off Rally -- and probably won't return until January. :hide

Wow, I didn't know that! You do not have to sit your dog at the start sign! I am actually reading the regs this time!

And, I wimped out, entered BN instead of Rally. Will do rally in August, with both dogs if nothing happens to the budget... Bobby has 3 RAE legs.

You'll be fine! I can't wait to hear all about it, so please share and if you get the course map... :)

Well, we had our run today in BRUTAL 95 degree heat plus humidity. Before the run we were able to camp out under a tall oak tree which made it bearable and we were able to get some practice under another nearby oak after we had the maps in hand.

It was a VERY VERY small trial: 2 Ex B, 2 Adv B (the same two dogs as Ex B), 3 Adv A, and 5 Nov B; a total of 12 Rally runs on record at the time the premium closed. The two Ex B/Adv B dogs were both Shelties - a Sable and Tr - owned by the same handler. Beautiful dogs who performed well considering the heat.

The Advanced course was decent, nice flow to it. Turned out Edan was the only Adv A dog; the other two didn't show up because of the heat. I could tell he wasn't really happy to be out in that hot sun, not that I blame him, but he's a trooper and performed admirably. We only had a lot of trouble with 1 station, Halt - Side Step Right - Halt (Adv sign 109) and that was mostly because we really didn't practice the new advanced signs. Even with that bobble, we still scored a 92 out of 100.

Since it's been asked for, I attached my course map.

Congratulations! That's great! Especially outdoors in this weather!

Thanks for the map, I will set it up and run it at the next class. :smile2:
How many legs do you have now?

First of all, a huge congratulations. It's quite amazing that without practicing the new sign you didn't loose 10 points! I guess it goes to show you that having a solid foundation and cool nerves pays off when faced with something new. Good job.

Thanks for attaching the course map!

Thanks. Let me know what people in your class think about the course. I thought it was a decent course with nice flow.

This was our 2nd Advanced leg.

Thanks! I thought, briefly, about redoing the station but decided against it for a few reasons:
1 - The weather was brutal
2 - I knew I didn't loose enough points to put me below the 70 I needed to Q
3 - I figured I'd end up loosing more points by retrying the station than taking the sloppy side step.
