Recovery suit

Sounds like a good thing she had it done. Pyometra is nothing to fool around with. Happy to hear she's already done. Yep the hard part will be keeping her quiet for 2 weeks - not looking forward to that with Juno....
Me either with Blueberry!
I do have a couple puzzle toys and I’m going to get her some chews. I know the vet said crate first 24 hours but with the other two the only way to keep her quiet is to crate for longer. Fortunately I have enough panels to do an outdoor crate although it’s supposed to get hot this weekend. She was quite frisky last night…and I thought you better enjoy it now lol.

Good news that she's done and well! Now the real fun, keeping her quiet LOL. Good luck with that one! Phew, you dodged a bullet with pyo...that's one of those silent nightmares you don't know they have until it's critical. It's always been my worry with intact girls. You must be so relieved!

I certainly am relieved Ann! I’m actually surprised but thankful I didn’t wait any longer. I’m also curious if she’ll be a happier dog now…I’m thinking could that distended fluid filled uterus have caused her any discomfort? She’s always been very sensitive along her belly and would frequently chew at her fur. She also is always quite nasty with the other two dogs. I’m thinking if that was me (a human female) perhaps it would make us crabby or sore all the time? If it makes her happier then that’s even better for her sake anyways!
Something to think about and to ask the vet.

The fluid is scary, wouldn't surprise me that she's been getting crabbier. Kismet has been getting really skittish over the last 12mths and now I know it's because she was in pain. Shelties are so good with hiding pain.

Whenever I see this thread name I think back to the old days when we made our own recovery suits - I think it was Ann who suggested using Onesies. Took everyone else a long time to catch up, Ann you should have patented the idea!

Well day 6 of her recovery and WOW…Blueberry is surprising me every day!
First off coming to me when I’m holding the leash…never ever prior to this, now I call her and she comes to me! Of course I give her a treat and this may be helping but it never helped before nor this quickly!
Yesterday morning she saw Finnie was cleaning out her (empty) bowl and ran towards him then (rather than snarling at him) she stood there and looked at him like “why did I care?”
And today I was going to go out to get a coffee and I called Finnie to take him for a car ride and Blueberry came running too! My little girl WANTED to go for a car ride! I was so impressed!
She got to sit in the front seat and they each got a pup cup!
And she didn’t throw up! Added bonus!
She certainly does seem happier just all around and wants to play with Finnie way more than she has in a long time!
I had noticed for the past couple months when Finnie would try to initiate play with her she’d ignore him. Now SHE’S taunting and teasing him to play.
Mind you she is pretty bored…let’s hope this change continues!
Only one more week to go but the signs are quite promising!IMG_8769.jpeg

From what you are describing it does sound like her uterus problems were affecting her life and now they are gone and you are the hero because you made them go away.. just like when they are hungry we make that go away too.. sometimes we are heros- sometimes zeros. Sounds like a new chapter for Blueberry!!!!
