Riley- Mama and Daddy miss you

I am so sorry for your loss. :(

SheltieMom and I have placed the ashes of each of our Sheltie Angels into photo urns - http://www.angelashes.com/pet-urns/traditionaledition/photourn.htm - and have them displayed in various places around the house. It's always a sad time when the ashes come back to us. But having them back makes me feel better in a way that is hard to describe.

Since our rescue takes in older and sicker Shelties, we've gone through this more times than I care to count and it's never easy. I always find myself wishing I had more time with them as they all had special qualities or behaviors that I found endearing. But I am comforted by the thought that they are waiting for us at the Rainbow Bridge and then we'll have all the time we want for ball-throwing, rope tugging, face licking and sleeping.

I hope and pray that your method of honoring Riley's life will bring you similar comfort and that you are only left with good memories until the time when you are reunited.
 
I am so sorry you lost your baby. I can't imagine how hard it must be. Riley is looking over you from across the rainbow bridge and wagging his tail at you. Only time will help you decide what to do with his toys. I'm sorry again. :(
 
I'm so sorry for your loss of Riley. Like you, we just lost Zoe in January after only having her in our lives for 14 months. It is so hard to say good bye to them but it is often the best thing we can do. I hope that you find comfort in all of your wonderful memories of Riley. When it is right, you will find it in your heart to take in another sheltie.

I just got Zoe's ashes back a couple of weeks ago. I have kept all of my dogs ashes, 3 now, and they will be placed with my husband and I when we pass. For now they all have decorative urns drapped with their collars and at least one of their favorite toys right beside them. I can't imagine having it any other way. :sadsmile:
 
Dskco: I wish I knew what to say to make things better for you. I have lost 3 shelties in the past and know how hard it can be. May God Bless You and your boyfriend and give you peace in this difficult time.
