Roomba Pet

I got my Roomba and patiently waited for it to charge. My only hesitation in buying this vacuum was the not so positive reviews about it's longevity. But my back wasn't holding up so good either from vacuuming multiple times a day, so I took the plunge.

I LOVE IT!!!!!!

The amount of stuff it picked up was quite surprising because I vacuum so much, and being round, it can't get totally into corners.

It's incredibly easy to clean and comes with 2 little room blockers (I forget what they're called) to control movement. The dogs don't bark at it unless it comes right up to their pen and it's usually only Flower who give one little warning bark at it. My birds say "Hi" to it. :rolleyes2:

I didn't spend the extra money for the upgraded version that can be scheduled since I'm home most of the time. Now I only have to drag out the canister vacuum once or twice a week for those hard to reach spots, blinds, etc. My back will thank me for the rest of it's life.

How does it do on tile/hardwood? Do you have cats? I could just see one of mine trying to take a nap on it while it chugs away.

I'm glad you found something that works. I also hope customer service is good if you do have a longevity issue.

Thank you for posting this! I've always thought they looked neat, but I wanted somebody else to try it before I bought it. I figured if it didn't work out as a good floor cleaner then maybe it would give Smudge something to herd to help with his cat herding obsession. :rolleyes2:

I remember first seeing it on Oprah (not an Oprah fan, but there was nothing else on!) for her "favorite things" show a long time ago. I thought I would never own something like that, because it was just to out there!

Just wanted to say that it was the original Roomba, and not the Roomba Pet! I don't think they had the Roomba Pet back then. :smile2:

My house is mostly tile and hardwood. Only the bedrooms are carpeted. I do have oriental rugs in the dining room, foyer, and family room. The Roomba easily goes up and down the rugs except for one small rug in front of the door to the garage. I watched it and figured out it was because of the long fringe on that rug. It eventually did vacuum it though, when it approached the rug from the straight length with no fringe. It's really good with fringe too because it's not strong enough to damage the fringe, but it does vacuum the dust off.

Eventually, I'll run it with the dogs loose, but for now I can do without the chaos.

I do have to move the docking station to each area I vacuum so it can get to the dock and recharge itself.

I sure hope it lasts too!

Sounds like a good thing for you. Vacuuming is apparently quite bad for your back especially when you are having issues as I have found out. Didn't go to the doctors but my wife mentioned it when she was there and he confirmed I shouldn't vacuum for quite a few weeks. I started again after a week because I couldn't let Laurel do all of the work when she is still working and I am retired.

I've been thinking about one of these for ages! Let me know if you still love it in a couple of weeks!

Tell me, if you use it upstairs is it smart enough not to tumble down from the top of the stairs? I'm honestly not sure how they work or how much programming, if any, is involved.

I have a "Ronba" He is smart enough to not tumble down from the top of the stairs and honestly I am not sure how he works, but it has only taken about 6 years of programming!!! But after all of these years, I still love him dearly!:wink2::lol:

RONba, LOL
My husband is Mr. Technology and would LOVE one of these, as well as the version that cuts the lawn.
