Rough Play

I think your lab is down playing. If he wanted to hurt or override your Sheltie your video would be very different. Labs play rough!!!!
Play...it is a subject that has not been studied enough according to what I have read.
Man and dog... one would risk his life for the other. Why? I have read that it is both their enjoyment of play....?

Maverick hugs and holds on to Ryder and makes this ferocious growl. Or he stands on top of him and does the same thing. He does not hurt him, Ryder is not scared, and always goes back for more. For me he is restraining him in a way and I can not help but wonder wonder if that is wrong. Yet when I have stopped him he seems to be discouraged and not want to play with Ryder. Ryder is such a bug...he can ride on Maverick by hanging onto his neck. Bark continuously in his face to play with him. I can not help but thinking... Maverick is saying, you are a pest, I am patient with you...but buddy I am the BOSS!!!

They do play rough,an he does outweigh any dog here in the house.If he wanted to hurt either one,it would have been done along time ago.

I think in alot of ways Trapp plays alot like a lab,because he only had Earnhardt to play with,before Jasper came home.

Trapp has always been one to like big dogs,even while he was still at Janets.Many times in videos you can see him playing with the older shelties,and not so much with his litter mates.He was never afraid of them.

My boys are none stop play.
Maverick gets a little dominant with his play with Ryder. It does not bother Ryder as he bugs him for more!!! and bugs...and bugs. But Maverick holds him down by mounting him. So I am trying to discourage this with out discouraging play:smile2:
