So I finally had time to put together some pictures of alphies colour change as he grew up.

Here is him at 2 months, note the patches already visible, they stay quite visible even now.:

4-7month: the ugly duckling phase

8-11 months: the back hair got really wild at this age

12-24months:at 13 month he suddenly decided to shed ALL of his undercoat.... Looked very ridiculous to me. Thank god it grew out later.

31-41months: I think he's finally got his big boys coat now. What so you guys think? His coat is also very dark now. The colour on his face didn't change that much.

Yup, so the big patches that are visible as a pup will stay visible as adults. But the little spots will be covered up by the long guard hair and disappear.
 
I like the way you broke down the months in his pictures.

He is an extremely handsome boy in all the pictures!

He is striking! In the pics from 12 & 13 months, his coat is so thin it almost looks sickly, but he looks so healthy! Some of the stages of the coat are so odd looking, this series shows them all, thanks for posting.
 
I liked all the photos - but was happy you put up the 13 month 'blown coat' shot. My smerle, hanna, is just over 13 months now and just starting to lose the undercoat. I think I know what's coming.
