this is VERY sad. I've been warning my wife about this danger since we got our first pup. We live in Massachusetts -lots of coyotes & coy dogs in the woods around here & the danger is only going to increase as Winter rolls in & game becomes more scarce. incidentally, Eastern Coyotes are "significantly " larger than their Western cousins.
we've also got a good sized Fisher living in back of our house -our four dogs would be no match for this little monster - be careful people!

while I feel bad for the poor dog..what a horrible way to go, I have to kind of wonder about the owners...I am by no means in the wilderness or even really a rural area and I know the dangers for goodness sakes! There are coyotes all over the place here..and fox as well, although the fox are less daring than the coyotes and usually stay to the smaller rabbits/squirrel/mice, but still its winter and the food supply is short they are wild animals and going to do what they need to in order to survive, hence survival of the fittest! I guess I could maybe see if your in the city and this happens...but to know there are wild animals out there and not take precautions?!?

now I am concerned.
