Sadie has loose bowels again

I'm so glad you were able to get her under control....everyone must be happier all round!

Poor Sadie

Sadie has been doing so well that I thought I'd give her a couple of baby carrots...BIG mistake on my part!

Last night she vomited every half an hour for 4 hours despite being given gravol. She finally stopped vomiting some time in the night and is back to eating and drinking a bit, she's still not quite right after the whole ordeal though and is very quiet.

I will not be giving her anymore carrots or any other food without first consulting my vet.

I guess she does have digestive issues?
 
I've been down the same road with Pixie, Ontario. She seems fine and I get complacent and think oh, she can have a little of this or that. :no: Wrong! Obviously Sadie does have some kind of digestive disorder, whether it's IBD or colitis or something else. I find I have to be very careful about what I give Pixie, even in terms of treats, chews, table food bites, etc. Even a year from a flare-up and she will still react to foods my other two dogs eat daily, such as yogurt or veggies. Just bring her back slowly with a bland diet and consider the carrot episode a lesson learned. Hope she feels better soon!
 
If you don't try, you don't know, right? I'd recommend single bites of new foods with Sensitive Sadie!

Yeah, thats what I should have done. I didn't believe that she was having digestive problems until now. Strange, according to the vet some of the blood work that she had done should have uncovered digestive problems but maybe I misunderstood her? Sadie has an appointment for her rabies vaccine on the 15th so I'll be mentioning Sadie's digestion.

I knew carrots weren't the easiest to digest but she never showed any signs of it bothering her before so I thought a couple of small baby carrots wouldn't hurt. Boy have I learned my lesson, I'm just sorry that Sadie had to suffer from my mistake. :no:

Not to worry, Sadie will forgive you very quickly once you give her a good, Sadie-digestible treat like a piece of chicken!! :yes:

In my experience, bloodwork doesn't always diagnose digestive conditions such as colitis. It's a symptomatic issue unfortunately. Do you feed her a digestive enzyme? That would really help long term. There's lots of good information online about both canine colitis and irritable bowel disease if you Google them too.
