Saying hello from BC, Canada

Welcome from Ontario. Can't wait for pix. I thought the two weeks I had to wait for Emma and then Liam was a long time.

I'll be sure to post lots of pictures :wink2:

It will sure be nice to have a sheltie party next year (when my puppy get all its shots done) to get to know a few members here that's also from BC.

When we were looking for a dog for our family, most members of the family wanted a German Shepherd. We have a really big yard so it seems a big dog is more suitable for guarding it. But then I saw all the comment people on this forum and other sources said about how wonderful shelties are...including a whole bunch of funny quirks I said we've got to get a sheltie! Then a friend gave us 10 little ducklings to pick out the bugs in our veggie garden....I have to say everyone in the family agreed sheltie it is cuz who else are we going to train to herd the ducks?

Which part of BC are you in?

Here is a video of our shelties herding our ducklings:

That's way too cute! Did you actually train them to herd the ducks or they instinctively know how to do it? Because by sending our ducks outside to forage in the yard, I know it's bad to chase them. They'd all scatter and it's really hard to get them back together. But your shelties do it slowly and the ducks stay together  Really nice!

I'm located in Maple Ridge right next to border of Mission.

I want ducks now too!!!!!!
We have a very large backyard... but the neighbours are already fed up with the barking... Barking and quacking might send them over the edge!

Maybe the ducks will keep the dogs occupied and won't bark too much. Wishful thinking but you never know. If it's bad neighbours then I'd say bring in the ducks! Anything to give them incentives to go....but if they're nice neighbours then that's a whole other story :wink2:

OMG I want ducks! Too cute.:smile2:

Welcome to the forum and soon to the wonderful world of shelties. Just be warned one sheltie is never enough.

I bet you can't wait to see your puppy. What color is he?

The breeder has emailed us photos of the puppies. There's 3 to choose from all of them are sable. However, because the mommy is merle and the daddy is mahogany sable...I think the puppy won't be a true sable either. I think a mahogany sable would be really lovely too. :biggrin2: If I could have it my way, I'd have 3 shelties of all 3 colour variations sable, tri, and merle!

My Justice is a maghogany sable. He was very light as a baby and very dark now. His mom was pure for sable and his dad a bi black.
