Seeking wisdom regarding neutering at what age?

I don’t know I always end up feeling like a bad mom...first food now neutering. We actually cancelled an earlier surgery trying to hold out, but as things got worse my Vet said to me that the growth plates are affected more in large breed dogs than smaller and lets get it done before behaviors get out of control. She has taken care of all our dogs since we moved back to Canada so I put my trust in her. Coop will be 3 weeks from his 1st birthday when he has his surgery and 2 weeks from that we have a behavioral trainer coming to help us out! lol

Minnie's getting spayed in 2 1/2 weeks, she'll be 11 1/2 months old. She's even through a first heat which was so easy, I didn't have to put panties on her and there was minimal cleanup. Don't feel bad about it! Cooper will be so close to a year old, it's a good time to do it!

After reading a lot about this topic.
For females between the 1st and 2nd heat (For my Minnie exactly 1 year)
For male dogs about 18 months.
