setback with Ember

Thinking of you--so sorry that poor Ember hurt herself again, but don't blame yourself. She has jumped up ONCE, in 3 weeks. It was just an unfortunate accident. However, I'm crossing my fingers that it is not re-torn, just swollen.

Oh no, not a good think to do Ember. I am so sorry and I know you are just heart sick over this happening. Wish you could get to the vet sooner....you would think given the situation he would see you sooner.

I'm so sorry to hear about Ember's setback. At least she's lucky enough to have you...most people wouldn't know how to deal with this. I know you'll give her the very best care. It seems all Shelties are jumping beans and it's nearly impossible to keep them down. I don't know if confining her to an x-pen in the house would help. I've tried that with mine sometimes when a crate would make them nuts. But then there are those who will jump trying to get out of the x-pen. You just can't win.

Sending prayers and thoughts your way that Ember's setback doesn't require more surgery and she heals quickly and stops stressing you out!

Oh no. :(

I know we all second guess ourselves when something goes wrong in our pups healing process but you have done everything, short of keeping her crated all the time, to help her heal properly. This is an unfortunate accident and definitely not your fault.

All sorts of prayers that this time it isn't serious enough to result in more surgery.

Ember, sweety pup, I know you've enjoyed being the princess while you had your cast on but you'll have so much more fun without it. Now be a good girl and let yourself heal properly for your mom's sake. There's a good girl. :wink2:

Doc, I am so very sorry this happened to Ember, but like everyone else has said, you can't keep them 100% quiet unless you lock them in a closet. I am alittle surprised like Susan said, that you can't get in to see the surgeon until friday given the circumstances. I hope everything turns out well. Boo is standing here by me now and I think he wants me to tell Ember that he sends his hugs & prayers to her. It'll be okay!:smile2:

I am so sorry to hear about Ember. Please don't beat yourself up over this you have been so diligent in her care. You kept the cast on a week longer than you were instructed to make sure she was properly healed, kept her as still as a Sheltie can be kept still and have provided her the best of care. This is not your fault. If she was due to be able to exercise in 4 days I have a feeling something may not have healed as quickly or properly as it should. I'll be keeping you and beautiful Ember in my prayers.

Dawn said it all. This just sounds like one of those things that happens some times, even though you've done everything right. Don't beat yourself up about it. So sorry it happened though. :(

Ugh, I'm so sorry to hear about Ember's recent trouble - it must be incredibly frustrating, because she was so close to being able to start exercising again. As Ann said, though, Ember has a fantastic owner on her side, and you'll do everything you can to help her get better.
