setback with Ember

Any news on Ember's progress?

She is walking and has had no pain since last weds. The swelling has gone down and the popping is gone. But it doesn't feel quite right to me, as the swelling that was on top has slide to the side. Hopeful it is just scarring not the tendon sliding over and adhering down in the wrong place. Recheck tomorrow at 3:30 so hopefully good news. She wants to run and jump so that is good I think. :smile2:

Hope the re check goes well and good to hear Ember is feeling better.:smile2:

Well Ember had her recheck. The surgeon is about 90% in that we are alright. It is hard to tell because of the swelling and scar tissue, which was my issue. We aren't having the popping any more and that's good. Not really having pain and she is walking (up to 1/2 mile daily) on it really well. So at this point we are going to move towards with increased exercise and loading exercises and monitor her response. If anything happens we will reevaluate it.

Our only other option is to go in and look and neither one of us want that at this time. It has been 6 wks today since the surgery. A long road. Ember is really battling the weight issues with all this non exercise. I cut her food back but she gained 1lb in 2wks anyway and is up to 18lbs.:( Not good. She is a dog that really needs major exercise to keep a normal weight so hopefully now that she is moving around more I can get that under control. Sigh.

Please cross your fingers and send prayers and good thoughts that going forward nothing more will happen.

So glad the news is good! It's so tough keeping these Shelties down when they need to rest. And equally tough taking weight off them! Ember is very lucky to have someone as knowlegable as you taking care of her. I'm sure she'll be back to normal in no time now. Sending good wishes and prayers for her.
