Can anyone give me advice on what shampoo is good to use for a sheltie. I have been using a shampoo and conditioner on my dog and she never looks "fluffy" like they do when they come out of the groomers. I let her air dry for the most part. Her fur looks flat.
Thank you

I think that really fluffy look you see coming out of the groomers is due largely to the high velocity dryers. If you line comb very thoroughly before bathing and then blow dry all the way - you will get a much fluffier result than letting your dog air dry.

Olive looks her best when I use a dryer at the end. However as far as shampoo goes, she looks better using Chris Christensen's Day-to-Day system than when she needs her anti-itch shampoo. It's matter of too much moisturizer, I think. She needs some for her skin but the anti-itch is a really heavy formula.

I use such a variety of shampoos. My decision basically comes down to what I use on them when I get them in the tub. If they are really dirty/grimy and not showing I use Crown Royale, smells yummy and really lathers to remove the dirt/grime. Showing I use CC Spectrum shampoo, I recently won at a grooming seminar Isle of Dogs, I havent tried it out yet..Also different colors have different coats. Sable coats are noticeably different from AOAC.
And yes to get the full "fluff" a air force dryer is required to get under the coat and lift it.

I agree that using a dryer helps fluff the coat, but I don't have a high-velocity dryer so I use my regular hair dryer on low. Brush as you dry to lift the coat so you aren't leaving the undercoat wet. I only dry the coat to about 3/4 of the way and leave it damp to air dry the rest of the way. Overdrying can also dry the hair out.

I use the Chris Christensen products also for shows, but for every day I like Buddy Wash Lavender and Mint. It's shampoo with conditioner and doesn't leave the coat oily. Also smells great!

stinky by nature

I use My True Naturals Daisy's 2 in 1 baby body wash and shampoo because it is super gentle, doesn't have anything icky in it, and works great for cleansing without being harsh. It is formulated for sensitive skin. Makes them downy soft, and has a gentle scent that smells clean. A little goes a long way...get it on amazon

Then I put on a diffuser on the hair dryer and blow until damp, then comes the zoomie behavior that finishes the job nicely.

Do you bath your dogs daily?
I only wash mine every 6 weeks.

For those of use that do not show... how often do you bath your dogs?

if you search, there is a thread regarding this. But honestly, I bath mine every 6 months or so. Sometimes more often, sometimes less often just depends on what the get into. That being said, we do some paw washing and some butt washing in between too.
