Sheltie affection question

Maggie likes to lay next to me on the sofa and will get up in Marks chair and sit beside him. When we go to bed she is right there in the middle and in the mornings loves her cuddle time and rubs up against us like a cat.
She greets people but does not like strangers to pet her. When friends are over she sometimes will go to them for a pat on the head and is the same with my parents.
Katie was not a cuddler but I think that is because Maggie would bump her out of the way, but she would on occasion come lay next to us. She would most always be close in the room with us unless she was really tired then she would go under the bed. She did not mind being held and would melt into your arms.
 
McKinley was such a cuddler as a baby puppy, now headed towards a teenage puppy......:no::rolleyes2:

And yes, like Trapp, by bedtime he is so tired, he still cuddles in between us and he stretches out so long now, flips over on his back with all four paws in the air and just snoozes:sleepy::sleepy:
 
Phebe is very much from the reserved school of affection. She likes people and isn't fearful of new things and people, generally, but she definitely likes her space. She will lay beside me on the couch or bed, and enjoys have her ears or back rubbed for a limited amount of of time. When she's had enough, she moves off.
 
Chloe loves to get affection from anywhere she can score some. She just rubs up on everyone wagging her tail, jumps in people's laps, etc. Vinca....not so much. She loves "her people" but not anyone else. She gets her cuddles, and then goes off on her own.

I guess they are all different.....kind of like people :biggrin2:

Isn't it just fun when they do that. Trapp will get between Brian & I,and get all comfy. Then once he really gets snug,he will turn on his back,feet up. We just chuckle at him.

Bumper waits till she thinks he's sleeping,then she will get up on the bed,and ever so carefully go around him,to get to me.Then she snuggles in my neck..only for a few minutes,long enough to let me know she wants some lovin,then goes to the foot of the bed.
 
Sca thinks snuggling involves a lot of wriggling and grunts. Though when he wore down last night he did come and lay near my feet :cool:
 
Bailey is not much of a cuddler. She is too hyperactive at the moment. She's too busy running around the house. I'm hoping she'll become a cuddlier one day. She does gives kisses, but only kisses your face.

This sounds exactly like Spencer. Occasionally he'll get up on the opposite end of the couch I'm on, but if I move an inch, he's off and up on "his" chair. But, like with Bentley, I can't count the number of times I've called out, "Spence, where are you?" only to look around and see that as usual he's my shadow.
 
I can see a lot of what Deja is doing that sounds similar. She loves being in the same room as me. If I am upstairs, she's there etc.

Last night, Bailey was fast asleep on my bedroom floor. I got off the computer and tried to sit down next to her. As soon as I sat down, she woke up and walked to other side of the room and went back to sleep.

I guess that's just the way some shelties are. They need to be in the same room as you, but they want their space too.
