Sheltie Coat Question

Still handsome

Yeah I didn't think it was normal either. Just odd. He is still very handsome and I'm already in love. Lol I'll ask if he was shaved... Just weird that they would do that to a 9 month old.. Maybe they got him from a bad breeder? I'll let y'all know the outcome when I go pick him up tomorrow. Mix or purebred sheltie he is already loved!

I've known pure-bred "smooth" shelties. Now, they were not well bred, but they were shelties.

He may never have the fluffy coat that most shelties have, but he will be easier to groom. Good luck with him.

Congrats on your new puppy - he may not be 100% sheltie but he's still a very handsome boy! He looks shaved to me, so maybe his coat will get longer as it grows back, even if it doesn't who could resist falling for him.
 
Welcome to the forum -- by the way. He looks like a fun little guy and is lucky getting a home that will love him and provide him with many great adventures.

Maybe he has got smooth collie/sheltie combined somewhere along the line.

You could try the doggy DNA. I know some people have had odd experiences, but mine nailed my shepherd mix perfectly and he's a bit of a tricky one (I suspected the parents but did it anyway).

I can't wait to see more pix and learn more about him & you.
 
If you love him already, that's what matters!

My first girl wasn't the most well bred with a thin coat, but she lived to be 18 and started my love of shelties. The best is yet to come!

How exciting! So does that mean we get more pictures tomorrow? You know we all love a sheltie mystery here so keep those pics coming.

Of course I'll post more pictures, I can't leave y'all hanging!! Lol I asked if they had him shaved and she said no. He was the fluffiest of the litter she said that his coat is coming in very slow and that its been that way since they got him neutered when he was about six weeks old. Ugh... This lady... I cannot wait to take him off her hands!
