Sheltie Coat Question

Of course I'll post more pictures, I can't leave y'all hanging!! Lol I asked if they had him shaved and she said no. He was the fluffiest of the litter she said that his coat is coming in very slow and that its been that way since they got him neutered when he was about six weeks old. Ugh... This lady... I cannot wait to take him off her hands!

Surely you mean 6 months - I don't think even the early neuter vets would do 6 weeks!

The pups from the mill seizure that Tin was a part of were done at 6 weeks. Don't know how they did it, but they did.

Nope, 6 weeks. I questioned this too. I was shocked. She acted like it was no big deal. Pretty sure he is a mill puppy and they are just trying to make whatever money they can off of him. She just seems shady. I cant wait to get him today. I want to see how healthy he is and get his shots taken care off(he hasn't had any! Not even his parvo:/)

Thank you all for the feedback and opinions! Very much appreciated!

Well he might not be purebred, his short coat does make you wonder, but he's a cutie nonetheless and I'm glad you are adopting him! Congratulations and welcome to Sheltie Nation.

Oh jeez -- no shots? Carry him into the vet. Put him on a towel on the table. Keep him close to home for a bit. He's lucky to be finding you! Test for HW and fecal -- you will thank yourself later.

Keep us posted -- we are all cheering for the little guy (and you).

Not shaved? Definitely not a Sheltie pure bred.

But nothing wrong with that. If you like the dog, that there is nothing against a mixed breed! I don't think we hold prejudice here.

What we do tend to hold prejudice is puppy mills and irresponsible breeders. So if you rescued him from either scenario, then great. But I hate to think that you might have paid for a pure bred dog. Do you mind sharing?

He looks like a sheltie/heeler to me, still very cute though! SO glad he's coming home to you where he'll get proper care. Here's a picture of my Dixie when she was 7 months old, as you can see her fur's not much longer than your boy's is. I think her mother may have been a sheltie/corgi.

EDIT: Here's a picture of Dix a couple weeks ago.

Here he is! :)

Picked up my baby boy today! Errm extremely happy to get him out of that awful home he was in.. I'll just say that his living conditions were.. well.. Wow!!!
He wasn't even hesitant to leave with me... His pervious owners didn't even say bye to him. They just took the money and gave him up. :( So excited to get to bond with him tomorrow! He's worn out from the day we've had today. Lol he went to the vet and got his shots! The vet told me he's a little under weight but he is other than that he is pretty healthy. He is very energetic and goofy! He has been giving me kisses all day! He is a sweetie and loves to cuddle! I still don't have a name picked out.. Here's some names that I like. I just need to pick one. Lol! Cosmo, Vrka, Xander, Archer, Apollo, Lobo, Jax, Ace, Zed, Ze'ev, Lykos, and Otto. BTW his coat on his neck, behind his ears, and on top of his head is very soft and fluffy. His coat on the rest of his body is a little rough.

Here's a couple pictures:

Those pictures confirm to me that he's probably a "smooth", which means definitely a mix. But I LOVE anything in a merle, and he looks like he could be fun. Seems to be built well, and is settling in quite nicely.

Agility dog in the making to me! :)

What a cutie! So glad he's home with you and settling in well. But be careful, shelties are like potato chips, you can never have just one! I suffer greatly from ADOS, Attention Deficit... Oooh! SHELTIE!
