I love plain face black dogs. Diva and Jamie were totally plain and Celtic just has the nose smudge. Choice between blaze and no blaze I will take no blaze every time.

Just use a sharpie, that will get rid of the smudge!... just kidding of course!

Celtic knows sit, down , stand, come, wait, stay, break(release word), leave it, take it, lets go(informal loose leash walking), kennel, hup up(jump in car, couch etc), quiet( sort of), back(move away from door etc) I consider these must know to be a good companion.
He is learning- stack, foot(move your foot), fetch, heel, spin left and right play dead, paw, finishes around and swing, find it , all the agility equipment names , touch , bottom so far. There are others to be learned with obedience, conformation and agility that we have not started. These are fun for dog sports.

Wow! Celtic sure knows a lot of commands. Lacey know sit and down. We are working on come. She is a really fast learner too. I just need to work with her more.

Hello all,
I just wanted to check with everyone else who has pups right now, what commands are you teaching your dogs? What do they already know and what do you still want to teach them? What do you consider essential and what do you consider just for fun?
Baker is 19 weeks today. He knows sit, chill (down), stand and boing (jump up). We are working on getting better stays, waits and come.
We start Beginner Obedience on 10/13. Since I plan to do Rally, Obedience and possibly Agility, all of the commands are important. I think as far as real life goes, come, leave it and drop from a distance (plotz?) are probably the most needed.
Celtic is very smart and you have worked with him a lot - it shows!
Hanna is quite smart as well and I have not spent nearly as much time as I should on training: She knows, sit, down, stand, now ( my word for come), wait, leave it, drop it, okay (release word), let's go, bedtime ( go in your crate at night), go pee (finally), find it and search, toy, ball, go get it ( our words for fetch), and of course treat. I had trained "touch" but honestly we never use it, so I doubt she remembers. She doesn't bark much at all so I haven't found it necessary to train "quiet" - if we look at her and say enough she generally stops. There are two things we have not worked on that I would find useful and they are Heel and Stay - shame on me.
Bonnie is 16 weeks old today. She knows sit, down, look (at me), stay, okay (release), come, up (onto lounge) and fetch. Although some better than others. The next ones I'll have to include are heel, stand, leave it and drop.
I notice some of you say your pups can 'wait' as well as 'stay', what's the difference?
