That's a great video Gloria, thanks for sharing. I never knew about the horns...I liked how she cleaned up the inside of the ear but still kept it so natural looking.

however I never trim the ears on mine
Destin's breeder is a groomer and one time when we were visiting, she asked if she could trim his ears- I told her sure but don't expect me to keep them looking like that.......
I feel his wild ear hair reflects his personality...

That's the video I saw before I saw Ann's - the dogs eyes in the video cracked me up watching it! I will trim Brodie's ears up a bit more than I did. He seems to get hairs worked down in his ear canal and then itches at them till I pull them out.

Thanks for the video Ann! Tomorrow (or Saturday) will be bath day for my boys so they'll get the full service. I ordered a blower and a grooming arm with a haunch holder (Piper tries to sit when I brush his butt an of course Finnie tries to lay down on the table) and I'm so excited to try them! I've never been excited to bathe them lol.

Any advice or videos or help on ear trimming for tipped ears? I looked into getting the Illustrated Guide to Sheltie Grooming but HOLY COW - the price!!!! Wowza!

Brodie's ears are looking shaggy - I found one online video (Woodruff) but the not sure the process shown is correct and maybe's it's me, but she seems to be cutting fairly choppy - I admit to not watching the entire video - dogs eyes on the woman are pretty funny to watch though!

Sorry, I love those shaggy ears so I don't trim them. I had my agility friend trim behind Minnie's ears because she was getting knotted. Since then, she has had no knots. I don't know how she did it!

I get shears from Sally's Beauty. I have more expensive ones, but these work just as well and last forever. I like these thinning shears, they're shorter and easier to manage for ears and paws. I've used them on my hair too, for my new pandemic haircut!

These are the straight shears I use. Again, they're shorter and easier to manage. I have longer ones but I always go back to these.

I actually went to my hairdresser, I could not wait! My hair is very short, it needs to stay that way! We felt like criminals, lol. I hid my car at the salon, my hairdresser was dressed like Darth Vader, all in black, mask, gloves.

And then there are those of us who don't mind the wild ear look..... Faith's ears totally fit her personality!!
